Kolkata: Nursing Student Found Hanging Inside Hotel Room Amid Row Over Jadavpur University Student’s Death; Probe On

Kolkata News: A second-year nursing student was found hanginginside the bathroom of the girl's hostel at Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital and Medical College (SSKM) in Kolkata. The victim, hailing from North Dinajpur district, was first spotted by her freinds, who later informed the university administration.

According to the police, the victim was not seen at the campus since morning. Her absence prompted her friends to initiate a search for her. When they knocked her hostel room’s door, no one responded. Her friends were left in utter shock when they forcefully opened the door and found the girl hanging with a clothes hanger. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

The police said that no suicide note has been recovered from her hostel room and described the victim as “somewhat of an introvert”.

"After a preliminary inquiry, no foul play has been found yet. There were no injury marks on the body," a senior police officer, as quoted by India Today said. The police have sent the body for post mortem and further investigation into the matter is underway.

The nursing student’s death came amid the massive controversy over the student’s death in The Jadavpur University in Kolkata. At least 13 people have been arrested so far in the case, which has sparked a major political row in West Bengal.

A first year student was found dead at the Jadavpur University earlier this month. His family has alleged that he was subjected to ragging due to which he took the extreme step.
