GH Alum Jason Gerhardt Takes Over Temporarily for Greg Vaughan
Jason Gerhardt briefly subs for Greg Vaughan on DAYS.
Soon, Days of our Lives will see a new Eric Brady. Actor Jason Gerhardt, who played Cooper on General Hospital, is subbing for Daytime Emmy winner Greg Vaughan.
The switch is temporary. Soap Opera Digest first reported the news that Gerhardt was coming back to soaps as DAYS’ Eric. The Peacock series tapes several months ahead, so Gerhardt actually shot his scenes in early 2023.
Vaughan revealed on social media that he needed the time away from Salem for the same reason so many others have had to use temporary recasts. “Unfortunately, I tested Positive for Covid & TPTD had to keep moving forward & thanks to our incredible #marniesaitta casting; my old friend / Castmate Jason Gerhart stepped in that week for 4/5 shows 👊🏼 talk more on @Soaphub_Ent 8/17 tune in ❤️” If you want to attend that Fireside Chat here on Soap Hub, click here.
FYI… this temporary fill in was over 3 months ago!! 😂 🤦🏻♂️😂
Gerhardt’s turn as Cooper on GH ran from 2007-2008. Cooper worked for Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche) when he took over the Metro Court hotel and held several Port Charles favorites hostage.
Cooper and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) were trapped in a vault during Jerry’s reign of terror that resulted in the death of Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). Maxie tried to help the bad boy, but, alas, Cooper’s life was cut short after he was killed by the Text Message killer, Diego Alcazar (Ignacio Serricchio). Gerhardt’s post-GH credits include Melissa & Joey, Vegas, Bones, Mistresses, Chicago Med, and NCIS.
